Enjoy a cup of coffee from Dan...

* any blend, but here comes an Ultimate Ultimate pull (or is that push?) Read on...
Think French press, then stop thinking about it. This device pumps warm water through the grounds,
The AeroPress, like an espresso machine, pushes a small amount of water through the grounds, then through a paper filter, which means you get the more readily water soluble/mixable components of the coffee, but not much of the the ones that seep into the water slower, over a longer brewing period. Since those longer-brew components don't happen to taste as nice (to most people, at least), this is a good thing.
Impressive.
Hmm, as a breast pump: now THAT would make a macciato de-luxe.
I actually ran a rudimentary precursor of that coffee process for a dinner party. I have a feeling I read about it in a 'Choice.'
The morning of the do, I found an old apricot jam tin, washed it, and punched many holes in the base.
Then inserted a ring of filter paper, followed by the coffee grounds, and some *cold* water. What came through (slower of course than the Aero-press) was , once diluted with hot water, the most remarkable clean coffee I had imagined.
You see a young geek in the making, before geeks had been invented, right?
Not quite as geeky as an automatic coffee tamper. I'd have one but I can't decide on a colour.
The Espro Tamper (check it out here)
"...How can you ensure that each tamp is 30 lbs?" Now I'll lie awake at night worrying, and once again coffee is to blame.
